Richmond Lavender Farm Engagement Photos

Christine and Mike’s engagement photography session was colourful, romantic, and so so sweet. They’re so in love and so great for one another—and it totally shows in the photos. If you’re dreaming of Vancouver engagement photos that feel soft, natural, and bohemian, the Richmond Lavender Farm could be the perfect place.

Meet Christine and Mike

Christine is a full-time accountant and a part-time group fitness instructor. Her perfect me-day would involve a massage, Japanese food, and sleep. (Same, Christine, same.)

Mike is self-employed and his ideal day would include exploring the city, sleeping, and he’d get a massage, too. (Anyone else feeling like booking a massage now?!)

They love spending time together watching their favourite shows, finding the best food, going to carnivals (so fun!), and taking road trips where they blast rap, old school hip hop, and top 40s tunes.

The Meet-Cute

Christine and Mike met on Livelinks—over the phone! And the sparks flew right away. A few weeks later, they met in person over dinner at Boston Pizza (I hope Cactus Cut potatoes were involved!), and it wasn’t long before they decided to make it official. Christine told me they knew it was legit when they “didn’t kill each other” on their first road trip together to Kelowna, for her friend’s wedding. Even though they’d only known each other for a few weeks! (So relatable, right?! Some days, in a relationship, not killing each other is a HUGE success. Haha!)

What Do You Admire Most About Each Other?

I asked these cuties what they love most about one another. Here’s what they said:

Mike: Christine is smart, caring, non-jealous, and supportive.

Christine: Mike is loyal, hardworking, cares about family so much, and is the sweetest.

A Christmas Engagement

This adorable duo got engaged on Christmas Day 2020. It had been a tough year for them, which made the date really special. I love the idea that their engagement will always be a bright memory in the middle of a hard time.

Mike knew how much Christine loved seeing Christmas lights—especially in 2020 when holiday spirit was at an all-time low for so many of us. They waited until it got dark out and headed to Granville Island, where there was a giant, lit-up star display. That’s where the magic happened!

Mike started to tell Christine how they’d been together for 10 years now. How this had been such a hard year for him and he appreciated that she had stuck by him through it all. More people started arriving and Christine started to walk away, but Mike stopped her and said he had something to ask. He got down on one knee, proposed, and Christine said YES! Cue the happy tears.

Richmond Lavender Farm Engagement Photos

Christine and Mike wanted colourful, floral engagement photos, and Lavenderland totally delivered! This beautiful location is stunning, photography-friendly, and only a 45-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. You get a pop of colour in your photos without losing that natural, outdoorsy vibe, making the Richmond lavender farm the perfect backdrop for engagement photos.

But don’t take my word for it! The proof is totally in the pudding:

Christine & Mike’s Advice for Other Couples

I asked Christine and Mike what they want to remember most about who they are as a couple right now, during this engagement period. They said, “that we can handle whatever life throws at us with adversity, patience, and love.” What a perfect vibe to carry into wedding planning!

If you’re planning your wedding right now, Christine and Mike have some advice: Don’t stress, ask for help, hire professionals (like me!), and remember it’s your day.
