Now Offering Elopement Photography!
Weddings are looking a little different lately, hey? Smaller crowds mean smaller weddings, which means more and more couples are opting for elopements and intimate weddings. There are a few ways to look at this change, and you know what, I’ve decided to opt for the super positive one! Intimate weddings are beautiful-- much more so than a lot of people imagine-- and I’m really pumped to announce that I’m now offering elopement photography to help you capture yours.
The beauty of an elopement
I know for some, the term "elopement" kind of has a bad wrap. It has connotations of a last-minute "shotgun" wedding, or of star-crossed but forbidden lovers, a la Romeo + Juliet. Well, I think it’s time to dust off those outdated beliefs, because an elopement isn’t about any of that.
An elopement might be different than what most people do, but I think that’s a good thing. It’s an amazing opportunity to take a beat and come back to your true selves. It lets you plan the day when you commit to each other perfectly-- in a way that makes the two of you SO happy you could burst-- without spending one second worrying about the opinions of others.
If you’re not big wedding people, then your elopement is the truest, most beautiful, most real representation of who you both are. It’s a way of saying your wedding vows to the love of your life intimately, and having that moment where the rest of the world just fades away.
My beef with most elopement photography
Okay, let’s get one thing straight: elopements are every bit as deserving of being documented and photographed as full-blown weddings. They’re not a "cheaper" wedding day-- they’re a very intentional, more intimate wedding day (and if that makes it cheaper, then score!).
I have a bit of a beef with the usual elopement-style wedding photography packages who seem to look at elopements as a half-wedding. Personally, I don’t think the limited, pared-back versions of wedding photography packages do elopements justice! I mean, 2 hours just isn’t enough time to capture the day you commit your life to another-- no matter how you do it.
That’s why I took it upon myself to design an elopement photography package I would actually want for myself and my best friends. It includes everything you need to relax, be present, and look back on your beautiful day with full-blown joy and giddiness.
Enter: the elopement photography of your dreams
Imagine that you've finally made it to your bucket list elopement spot. You feel alive, excited, and energized.
The day of your wedding, you spend a nice lazy morning with your love, having lunch before heading off to get ready. You get ready in separate rooms, and I capture both sides of the story. A lovely surprise I’ll share with you later.
We find the perfect spot.
You walk up to your love and see each other for the first time. Magic.
We head out to explore the area, stopping along the way to capture the beauty in front of us. We find a breathtaking view that somehow feels just like you both. The sun is casting beautiful golden light over the two of you.
You turn to your best friend, and commit your lives to each other. There are big laughs, soft tears, and long hugs. Cute, uncomfortable smiles, almost-imperceptible hand squeezes. I capture it all.
The sun begins to set, and you take a moment to be present.
Now, it’s time to celebrate. We seek out the bevvies, and you cheers to a new life together, and all that’s just begun. Bottles are popping, glasses are clinking, and my camera is clicking away.
After the sun sets, we meet your immediate family for dinner. You’re ecstatic, electric, almost buzzing with energy. I snap candid shots of the laughing-so-hard-I’m-crying moments and the I-love-you-so-much-it-hurts hugs.
Your shoes are muddy and your hair is wind-swept, and you are full to the brim. Pure joy.
My elopement packages were designed to capture all of this, just for you. Not just a few shots, not just the formal stuff, not just an hour or two-- your entire, beautiful, first day of marriage.
Let’s make this happen.
