One of the best parts of BC can also be a challenge when choosing the perfect outdoor wedding venue. Finding outdoor wedding reception venues can be overwhelming. Stress not, friend. As a small wedding and adventure elopement photographer, I've been lucky enough to visit some amazing outdoor wedding venues and elopement spots and have found some of the best places to elope in the Lower Mainland. And, with more and more couples choosing to elope or have a small wedding, I figured it was time to spill the tea on some of the best outdoor venues!

Whether your ride or dies are celebrating the day with you when you’re eloping in Canada, or it’s a day just the two of you, full of everything you both love to do, this list of wedding venues in BC will help you find THE perfect place to say your I Do’s.

The Best Outdoor Wedding Venues

Full disclosure, the suggestions below are heavily weighted to areas in and around Vancouver BC, however, there are some suggestions for the interior + nearby islands. 

In no particular order:

1) Jericho Beach - The outdoor wedding venue at Jericho Beach is perfect for those wanting a bit of everything when it comes to the background of their wedding photos. You get the beach, a park, a pond, and trails all within a very short walking distance.

2) Cheakamus Centre - Located in Squamish, the Cheakamus Centre is located on 165 ha of ecological reserve in Paradise Valley. Couples having a Cheakamus Centre wedding have the option to book cute cabins on the property for their guests, Set on a farm, surrounded by old trees, the perfect nature backdrop for an intimate wedding

3) Whistler - A quick 1.5 hour drive from Vancouver for your outdoor elopement. Say I do at the top of the world!

4) Sun Yat Sen Gardens - This quiet sanctuary can be found in Chinatown, just east of the downtown core. This is one of the best small wedding venues for fans of the fall season who will love this venue, the tree colours are beautiful!

5) Gambier Island - A short hop, skip + a water-taxi jump away from the city, the Sunshine Coast offers a variety of location options that give you the feels of a remote location with the city at arms reach.

6) Bodega Ridge - Nestled on the west side of Galiano Island, a ferry ride away from Tsawwassen, Bodega Ridge is the perfect getaway for a special day. Rustic cabins for your must-have crew, nestled between the forest and ocean, this beautiful outdoor venue is a peaceful background for your best day ever!

7) Lighthouse Park - A classic icon of the coast. With trails leading to the water’s edge, easily get 2 different backdrops in one-stop.

8) Joffre lakes - Did you know the breathtaking turquoise colour of these lakes is because they are glacier fed? These epic views are perfect for your outdoor elopement. With 3 lakes to choose from, depending on the # of people + time of year, we can always find a little quiet corner of paradise just for you.

9) Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish - Spend the day in the clouds, without the 4-hour hike. Explore the suspension bridge or find a quiet path along the cruise-y trails to capture some more intimate moments.

10) Pitt Lake - Less than 1 hour away from Vancouver, you’re greeted with nature and no cell service. The mountain views with the lake in the background are unforgettable!

11) Lynn Canyon Park - A getaway amongst the tall forest trees. Spend time by the water, swim in the 30ft pool, or walk across the suspension bridge before finding a quiet spot for your scenic forest wedding.

12) Rustic Weddings in Sorrento - Ranch weddings at their finest. Accepting only 10 weddings a year, this real-life working farm is a dream for anyone planning a boho wedding.

13) Manning Park - A short drive from Vancouver, this mountain resort offers a variety of ceremony + reception locations year-round. Maybe a snowboard wedding is of interest?

14) Stanley Park - A park with a little bit of everything, Amazing views of the city, mountains + ocean, and beaches to watch those epic summer sunsets. Walk or bike the seawall, take a dip ocean, share a meal and have enough space that it’s perfect if guests are joining you.

15) Whytecliff - Located in a corner of Howe Sound, just west of Horseshoe Bay, this park offers rugged coastlines + beautiful views of the mountains. A perfect “just-us” location due to its popularity amongst divers, and families in the summer.

16) Grouse Mountain - For a mountain experience with guests, Grouse Mountain has it all, and is still close enough to the city that your cab ride won’t be super expensive. Just a note that Oct - June can be iffy weather-wise and you can easily be fogged-in or surrounded by low clouds, obscuring the beautiful views of the city. July and August are the best months to have clear skies and dreamy sunsets.

17) The Secret Garden - This beautiful outdoor wedding venue is located in the beautiful gardens of Ripples Winery and New Wave Distilling. This gem has the elegant tropical garden party vibes you’re looking for. DIY it or leave it in the capable hands of the staff to bring your vision to life.

18) Bakerview Farms - Located in the township of Langley, BC with views of Mt Baker, this relaxed farm setting is perfect for your outdoor rustic wedding.

19) Blue Grass Farms in Vernon, BC - A serene rustic setting in the heart of BC’s Okanagan countryside. With amazing landscapes full of meadows including a tranquil pond, this relaxed setting is the perfect background for your unique and special day.

20) MacDonald Acres in Kelowna BC- Although this is technically an RV park, this beautiful plot of land is located just 15 minutes from the Kelowna Airport and is perfect for a “just-us” experience. With pop-up dates for two-person elopements throughout the summer, if you have flexibility in your wedding date, this might be the answer for you! If you’re looking to celebrate with a small group of guests afterward, you can inquire about the last slot on a particular pop-up date.

21) Bloom Gardens in Chilliwack BC - Nestled on 11 acres of beautiful greenery, Bloom Gardens offers seclusion and privacy, perfect for a micro wedding with 50 of your faves. Choose from the Great Lawn, Honeymoon Pond, or Love Falls to exchange vows, and a daytime, evening, or full-day wedding experience.

22) Sitka Farms in Squamish, BC - A working farm suited for whatever style of outdoor wedding you’re planning. Able to accommodate everything from a just-us elopement to a bigger wedding. Choose from a forested ceremony, a barn vow exchange, or an open-air celebration.

23) American Creek Lodge in Hope, BC - A short hour and a half drive from Vancouver, nestled in the Fraser Valley this 5-bedroom lodge is a picturesque backdrop for a micro wedding with your 10 besties.

24) Sundance Rance in Ashcroft BC - The perfect location for a micro wedding. Just 4 hours from Vancouver, you and your 50 guests can stay at this guest ranch with 100 happy horses for your wedding, and have a truly one-of-a-kind experience! Heads up, they have limited availability and accept weddings only in the Spring and Fall.

25) Fraser River Lodge in Agassiz BC - Located on the Fraser River with views of the Cascade mountain range, this lodge can accommodate any wedding party size with a variety of ceremony locations + options to bring your vision to life. Include activities like fishing, axe throwing, garden games + campfires, or even an overnight stay on the property (in low season).

26) Rowena’s Inn On The River in Harrison Mills, BC - Set alongside the turquoise Harrison River, Rowena’s Inn, this colonial-themed inn is nestled in the Coastal Mountains and is home to the largest winter bald eagle gathering. Offering year-round elopements that include an intimate ceremony with beautiful mountain views and a one-night stay in a luxurious cabin.

27) Queen Elizabeth Park - Located atop the highest point in Vancouver proper, this 52-hectare park is home to amazing views, an indoor tropical garden, epic cherry blossoms in the spring with a gorgeous lush garden making it the perfect backdrop for your just-us elopement or a small wedding with friends.
