This week, I did it again. I attended my first Vancouver Wedding Meetup. It’s a night for all wedding industry professionals to get together, catch up with old friends, meet new ones and share in the calm before the storm that is the wedding season.

The boy was away for the weekend so I put on my big girl shoes and attended the even solo. I must have talked myself out of going at least 100 times on the drive to the Stanley Park Pavillion, but I forced my-heart-pounding-nerves-on-high-alert-self go. Attending anything by yourself, without knowing anyone, is hard enough. Attending a networking event, by yourself, without knowing anyone, is 10 times harder!! Schmoozing is definitely not my strong suit. Having to walk up to strangers and start a conversation makes the part of my brain that handles small talk go blank.

The night started off by everyone having to get their photo taken in order to get your free drink ticket. I mean really. Was the universe combining forces just to bring all things that scare the pants off of me together for one night?!? Apparently I did ok with the photo because they gave me a drink ticket and off I went to find some liquid courage.

While I wasn’t the life of the party, I managed to meet some really nice people, exchanged cards with a few, and walked away putting faces to names I’d seen on FB. All in all, a success in my books. Next time, I’m bringing my girl Kelli, who rocks at these type of events, and I can just ride on her coattails. They say face your fears, but they never said I had to do it more than once!

I revisited it this week and it has been growing by leaps and bounds! There are so many local vendors part of the community now, that it’s becoming a one stop shop to finding exactly what, and who, you’re looking for. Brides-to-be have the ability to create their own engagement announcement page, save the date or wedding countdown as well as find oodles of great ideas to help plan their perfect day. Vendors have their own profile and a blog to give potential clients a feel for the services they provide and a taste of their personality.

I know, I know, the last thing we all need is yet another wedding site to visit/follow, and perhaps this isn’t the one for you. After a mini feeding break, we walked over to a nearby park to see what he thought of grass for the first time. We’re not entirely sure if he was unimpressed by the grass or the fact that he was getting sleepy and Mom and Tia Mana wouldn’t let him sleep. I know I’m completely biased, but he’s SUCH a cutie!! Love all his fun facial expressions and I can’t wait for our next photoshoot!

I can’t remember if he was about to cry or laugh at this moment, but it turned out to be a funny picture anyways.

We stopped in last week at Nouvelle Nouvelle‘s Wine and Ice Cream event, featuring Road 13 who brought a few of their new releases and Earnest Ice Cream who created some bite size tasty ice cream sandwiches.

We had a wonderful time on our 4 week vacation, and I will be doing a full write up about it in upcoming weeks, but for now, I just wanted to share one of my favourite photos. We were up early on our way from Phuket to Koh Phi Phi, and while it might not be the best photo, I love it because this is the first sunrise I’ve ever photographed!

Just like the Leather album, this album is also hand made with lots of “TLC” and while home decor isn’t necessarily my strong suit, I can pretty much guarantee it’ll look fab in your living room.

Instead of regaling you with all of it’s amazing qualities in a blurb that is something akin to a sales pitch, because let’s face it, that’s not really my style, I’m going to just let you take in the awesomeness that is this 10×10 30 page fabric album, seen here in Espresso.

P.S. If you’ve never heard of or stayed at the Victorian, I highly recommend it – inexpensive, built in the 1890′s, full of character and lovely staff.
